Description
Psychological determinants of health are behaviors, attitudes, and conditions, that contribute to placing people at differential risk for poor health and well-being. This course reviews psychological determinants that influence health outcomes. Special attention will be given to evidence-based examinations of economic, cultural, and historical factors that lead to health disparities. Students will develop the knowledge and skills to critically assess public health policies and programs designed to address the needs of groups that experience inequities and marginalization. This course takes a solutions-focused and community-affirming approach focusing on evidence-based models to heal and advance health through diversity and inclusion.
