Department(s)
Description
This course examines two related issues: theories of cognitive development and development in core domains (e.g., language, space, time, and social cognition). With a focus primarily on the development of children’s thinking, the course also covers cognitive development in other periods of the lifespan. Students will be evaluating, comparing, and contrasting the various assumptions (behaviorist, information-processing, cultural-historical) that lie behind the various theories of cognitive development.
